BODINE AND HERZOG JACKSON MOTORSPORTS POST TOP-TEN FINISH AT BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY

BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 23, 2003) - Todd Bodine and the Herzog Jackson Motorsports racing team posted another solid finish on Saturday in the Busch Series Channellock 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway. The No. 92 team finished in ninth place, despite having to pit twice in order to make adjustments to the car.

Bodine has faired well in the past at this .533-mile short track. With eighteen starts under his belt at Bristol Motor Speedway, he has posted nine top-tens, seven top-fives, and has two victories. Averaging better than a 50 percent top-ten rate at a track that has seen its share of victims, Bodine and the No. 92 racing organization were optimistic heading into the Channellock 250. Coming off a stellar victory last week at Darlington Raceway added much needed momentum for a team that is currently first in the Busch Series driver's points race, but still seeking sponsorship.

After starting in eighth place, Bodine had made his way up two spots before the first caution of the day was thrown on lap four. After a re-start on lap nine, Bodine, radioing to crew chief Tony "Rambo" Liberati that his car felt very tight in the middle, held his sixth place position until the second yellow flag of the day was thrown on lap 18. Not wanting to pit and lose valuable track position, Liberati decided to wait to make changes to the car until the scheduled pit stop was to occur.

On lap 112 of the 250-lap race and under caution, Bodine was running 12th but could no longer wait to make adjustments to the Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Liberati gave the go ahead to enter the pits for four new tires, a slight wedge adjustment and fuel. Having re-started in 16th place, the No. 92 would have to make its way back through the field in the hopes of scoring a top-ten finish.

Bodine continued to work his way into the top-ten, still radioing to Liberati that his car felt extremely tight. Liberati made the gutsy decision to pit once more just laps later to make another wedge adjustment, add rubber to the right rear, and put on four fresh Goodyears. This seemed to help Bodine as he began to make his way back into the front of the pack. Bodine had made his way into tenth position when the final caution flag of the day was thrown on lap 240. Two laps later, NASCAR officials made the call for the red flag due to debris on the track. When the green flag was finally flown on lap 245, the No. 92 had made its way around the No. 38 car of Kasey Kahne to take the ninth place finish.

"The Herzog Jackson Chevy was really good in qualifying on Friday", stated Bodine, "but today it just seemed to be a totally different car. We made some adjustments to it that cost us some track position, but all in all, it was a pretty good day and I can't complain with a ninth place finish. We're looking forward to Texas next week and hope we can get another victory for the No. 92 team."

Next week Bodine and the No. 92 Herzog Jackson Motorsports team travel to Texas Motor Speedway for the running of the O'Reilly 300. Live television coverage will begin at 2:00 pm EST on FOX. PRN Radio will also broadcast the event live beginning at 2:00 pm EST.
