Monster Takes to the Track
Monster to Sponsor the #92 NASCAR Busch Series Racecar Team with Current First-Place Ranked Driver Todd Bodine

MAYNARD, Mass. – June 5, 2003 – Monster®, the leading global online careers property and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ: MNST), today announced a partnership with Herzog Jackson Motorsports, which fields the #92 Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the NASCAR Busch Series. Monster's agreement with Herzog Jackson Motorsports marks the first time that Monster has partnered with a NASCAR-level racing team to broaden in scope its marketing and target audience reach.

More than 75 million Americans identify themselves as NASCAR fans, making it an ideal sport to promote the Monster brand. The #92 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by Todd Bodine, will have a full Monster paint scheme and labeling. Earlier this year, Monster launched its new Skilled and Hourly initiative to provide jobs for every type of worker, from food service and healthcare, to retail and manufacturing. Being in front of the expansive NASCAR fan base will allow Monster to deliver its message that “Monster Works for Everyone”.

“Monster is excited to be partnering with Herzog Jackson Motorsports and the #92 NASCAR Busch Series car driven by Todd Bodine. This is our first ever racing marketing program at the elite NASCAR level, and we are proud to be associated with a first-place team of such a high caliber,” said Carole Johnson, senior vice president of Marketing at Monster. “Monster is a brand that reaches all consumers and job seekers at every stage of their career, and we are looking forward to getting our brand out in front of car racing fans nationwide.”

"We welcome Monster’s sponsorship and look forward to working with them in this new marketing partnership," said team co-owner Randy Herzog. "Todd Bodine is going into these races in first-place, and we look forward to pushing the #92 Chevrolet Monte Carlo toward continued top finishes. We hope this will be a great experience for Monster and look forward to providing them a positive return and feedback for their brand.”

Co-owned by Baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson and the Herzog family, the team has dominated the Busch Series circuit this year. Currently, the team is ranked first in the 2003 NASCAR Busch Series driver points standings, 76 points ahead of second place. The Herzog Jackson Motorsports team has an impressive record with one win, six top-five finishes, and nine top-10 finishes in 14 events of the 2003 season.

The Monster car is scheduled to participate in three upcoming Busch Series races:

  • June 7th in Nashville, TN in the Trace Adkins Chrome 300 race to be broadcast live on FX at 7:30 p.m. EST
  • June 14th in Sparta, KY in the Meijer 300 race to be broadcast live on FX at 7:30 p.m. EST
