TIM FEDEWA AND EXCEDRIN QUICKTABS
RACING TEAM READY FOR CHARLOTTE AND THEIR FIRST RACE TOGETHER
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (October 8, 2002) - For the
Excedrin QuickTabs Racing team, the old saying, "the
more things change, the more they stay the same," is
especially fitting heading into this weekend's NASCAR Busch
Series event at Lowe's (Concord, N.C.) Motor Speedway.
What won't change is the team's desire to polish off the 2002
season with a top-10 finish in the owner point standings.
What will change is who will be driving the car this weekend
in its attempt to do so.
Tim Fedewa takes over the reigns of the No.
92 Excedrin QuickTabs Chevrolet Monte Carlo for this Saturday's
Little Trees 300. Fedewa, who has been racing in the
Busch Series for over 10 years and has four victories and
four pole positions to his credit, got the call last week
after driver Todd Bodine left the team to concentrate on his
Winston Cup efforts.
Fedewa has plenty of experience on the 1.5-mile
oval near Charlotte, North Carolina. In 19 starts that
span over 10 seasons, Fedewa has posted a second-place qualifying
run and has finished a high of 13th on three occasions.
Though he did not compete in the event in the spring, Fedewa
was at the track serving as a consultant to Kerry Earnhardt
and the FitzBradshaw Racing team. Combining his years
of experience as a driver and his most recent role as a coach,
Fedewa and the team feel they have a good shot of performing
well right out of the box.
"I enjoy racing at Lowe's Motor Speedway,"
said Fedewa. "It's a great track to race on and
I've had some good runs there. I haven't always had
the luck that I need to finish well there, but I do like the
track and am looking forward to going there with the Excedrin
QuickTabs Racing team. We're taking the car that the
team won with at Kentucky Speedway, so I know we have good
equipment and great horsepower."
The Herzog Jackson Motorsports crew has dusted
off one of their favorite Monte Carlos for this weekend's
race. HJM-16 is the same car that qualified and finished
in fifth place in the spring race at Lowe's Motor Speedway
and then brought the team to victory at Kentucky Speedway
in June. The car hasn't been utilized since the victory
and the team has been anxious for its return to the track.
Fedewa has been a busy man since learning
of his ride with the Herzog Jackson Motorsports team.
He spent last Wednesday at the race shop in Charlotte before
heading to Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway to work with Earnhardt
and his Winston Cup qualifying attempt. Then it was
back to the shop on Monday and Tuesday to get to know the
cars and crew. This Wednesday Fedewa will take part
in a fund-raiser organized by Michael Waltrip. Once
he straps into the No. 92 Herzog Jackson Motorsports Chevrolet
for the first time at Lowe's Motor Speedway on Friday morning
though, it's back to business.
"I'm really happy," said Fedewa.
"Being a part of this Herzog Jackson Motorsports team
and being affiliated with Excedrin is a good opportunity for
me. It's a good team and I just want to have a great
run for them in Charlotte and hopefully, if we can do that,
maybe they'll ask me back the next week."
