TODD BODINE AND HERZOG JACKSON MOTORSPORTS READY TO TAKE ON “THE ROCK” TOGETHER

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (October 30, 2002) – Todd Bodine makes his return to the NASCAR Busch Series and Herzog Jackson Motorsports this weekend at North Carolina Speedway.  Bodine will pilot the No. 92 Excedrin QuickTabs Chevrolet for the first time since his departure following the event at Kansas Speedway.  Bodine left the team to concentrate on his NASCAR Winston Cup efforts, but made the decision to return for the final three races of the season.

“Honestly, I just missed being a part of this Excedrin QuickTabs Racing team,” commented Bodine. “This is a great organization and we’d like to finish what we started.  The remaining races on the schedule are in conjunction with the Cup Series, so I think that has eased some of the pressures of my schedule.  Our plan is to go out there and show everyone what this team is capable of.  We’ve got three races left and I think together we can win them all.”

Bodine has racked up impressive statistics at the1.017-mile North Carolina Speedway, affectionately known as “The Rock”.  In 18 starts at the track, Bodine has posted12 top-10 finishes and seven top-fives. He has also been victorious on two occasions, once in the fall of 1995 and again in February of 2001.  He also holds the distinction of winning by the closest margin, a mere six inches over Mike Wallace during the ACDelco 200 in 1995.

“I definitely look forward to going to Rockingham every year,” says Bodine.  “It suits my style of driving and I’ve run well since the first time I went there back in1991.  I enjoy the track.  It’s challenging and fun to run on all at the same time.”

Crew chief Tony (Rambo) Liberati and the Herzog Jackson Motorsports crew have prepared HJM-7 for this weekend’s Sam’s Club 200 in Rockingham, North Carolina.  This particular Chevrolet Monte Carlo has seen action only once this year.  It is the same car that the team utilized at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway in the beginning of the season, incidentally, the first race Bodine ran with the team this year. Bodine drove the car to a top-10 finish after starting in 23rd.

After making the decision to finish the season together, Bodine and the team wasted no time preparing for the weeks ahead.  The Excedrin QuickTabs Racing crew spent two days at Homestead-Miami Speedway testing in preparation for the season finale on November 16th.
